Federico Quintana
Documenting the war in Ukraine
Frederico Quintana is an independent photojournalist who has reported around the world, from documenting Orcas in Patagonia to exposing dangerous mining conditions in Bolivia. Beginning in February 2022, Quintana traveled between conflict zones and regions in Ukraine for a total of seven months, during which he reported exclusive stories on the Russian invasion and its impact on daily life for the Ukrainian people, a project he continues to pursue today.
Given Quintana’s extensive body of work, and its breadth and depth of subject matter, the photographer asked us to find a way to organize and present his many years of images online.
Unrolling the photographer’s reel
We created a clean online canvas that resembles a photographer’s contact sheet, but with the added digital benefit of multiple browsing modes and a custom CMS, allowing Quintana and his team to update his work and structure stories in multiple ways.
A story-telling archive
To exhibit and preserve Quintana’s many photographs, we built a project archive into his website, elevating his stunning documentary work into an easily viewable chronology to be shared and revisited for years to come.
